Even the free postcards for these shows qualify as fine art (and make for lovely refrigerator or office cubicle decorations). Not all the sights are indoors. From April to November Northwest 13th Avenue between Everett and Johnson streets closes to traffic for the open-air First Thursday Street Gallery featuring a variety of vendors. Between Broadway and Northwest Eighth Avenue at Northwest Davis Street the recently remodeled DeSoto Project houses the Museum of Contemporary Craft and several top-shelf spaces: Froelick Gallery Charles A. Hartman Fine Art Blue Sky Gallery and Augen Gallery. The DeSoto also leads art walkers out of the Pearl and into ld Town. The scene shifts abruptly with white wine chic giving way to Pabst and beards with younger artists later hours.
