Arts Alive weekend a success

” There was an almost continuous stream of visitors into the Front Street Art Gallery walking the harbor and on Sunday viewing the five luscious gardens of the tour. Plein Air painters could be found in the garden at Lighthouse Point along Cole Parkway and the Fish Pier. The Wet Paint Show featured excellent examples of painting in open air capturing the changing effects of light that are so much a part of plein air painting plus the vivid hues of gardenscapes. The “People’s Choice Award” this year went to Bob Beaulieu for an oil painting of a boat moored near the Fish Pier. In addition on Saturday there were activities for children including coloring pages and a coloring book of Scituate scenes created by our own Bob Beaulieu.

“I love thinking and writing about the arts and I felt I was going too far away from arts as an interior designer. “She her husband and young daughter moved to akland and Fox decided to open a gallery in Temescal to get closer to the arts and to offer something to Bay Area art lovers that they weren’t seeing at other galleries. She has positioned her gallery well. It is on a shaded corner of the ever-improving district centered around 51st Street and Telegraph Avenue across the street from the wildly popular restaurant Myanmar Superstar. The restaurant owners from San Francisco recently opened it in the new location at 48th Street across from SLATE. “I’ve always had a romance with watching neighborhoods grow” Fox says. “The Temescal has an up-and-coming feeling and I thought I could contribute to it.

In the back is play equipment where Preston spends his day while his mom works. A Web cam is set up in that area so Scott can see and communicate with his family while he?s away. Applegate Gallery and Framing has been located on Church Street for almost eight months. Applegate moved the framing studio she had in akton for five years called akton Art and Framing to this more central location and changed the name to emphasize the change in direction. Except for the present glass art display all the artists are local to Northern Virginia. Applegate?s own works typify the range of services the gallery offers. More than simply art on canvas and custom-framing Applegate preserves wedding bouquets in display boxes and designs framing motifs around treasured objects such as sentimental pieces of dress or wedding invitations.
