The meticulous process of melting layering and scraping give Hyon?s pieces an almost archaeological feel with depth and substance a sense of history and how even the sharpest remembered experiences gradually fade with the passage of time. She combines the raw materials of an artist ? paint paper graphite ? with a passion for every aspect of human culture mixing concepts in science and medicine with striking symbolic imagery thereby transforming them into timeless emotionally evocative works of art. With an MFA from Vermont College and graduate level course studies at the Lorenzo de Medici Art Institute in Florence Italy Nash Hyon has exhibited extensively including shows in Connecticut at the 22 Havilland Street Gallery the Discovery Museum Wilton Library Silvermine Galleries and the Ridgefield Guild of Artists Gallery as well as the Katonah Museum of Art Marist College Art Gallery National Academy of Sciences and the Knoxville Museum of Art. Founder and a juror for five years for Radius in conjunction with the Aldrich Contemporary Museum of Art Ms. Hyon has won many awards such as the New Haven Paint Club Award for Painting Koenig Painting Award and the Best Painting Award at the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport CT. Her work can be found in many private collections from Connecticut to California as well as at the William Benton Museum of Art in Storrs CT Flag Venture Partners and Citizens Communications. Lost River utfitters is scheduled to open the doors at its new location in July. Lost River utfitters has signed a lease for the ground floor Main Street frontage space of the Jones Building which sits on the southwest corner of Fourth Street. The building had been occupied by Images of Nature a gallery for photographer Thomas Mangelsen who has numerous galleries throughout the West. The Ketchum gallery was closed at the end of July 2008. Lost River utfitters is currently located two blocks to the south between First and Second streets. Suzanne Connor a manager and buyer as well as guide for the fly-fishing outfitter said owner Scott Schnebly decided to relocate to take advantage of a busier section of town.

The design team was selected through a competition held by the City of New York and Friends of the High Line in 2004. City Rezoning Has Catalyzed Development Along High Line New Downtown Whitney MuseumMuch of the new park lies within the West Chelsea Special District a zoning area specially created by the City in June 2005 that has fostered development along the High Line and in the West Chelsea neighborhood. The rezoned area has provided opportunities for new residential and commercial development facilitated the reuse of the High Line as a unique park created and maintained affordable housing and enhanced the neighborhood’s art gallery district. Since the West Chelsea rezoning a total of 1374 new housing units -132 of which are affordable units – and just under 500000 square feet of commercial office space were completed or put into construction along the High Line from Gansevoort Street to 30th Street.
