The art social studies and ESL classes will take a field trip to the Miller off Main Street Gallery in Blacksburg in mid-February to learn about personal adornment in various cultures and then create their own art including masks beadwork and henna tattooing to add to the gallery. The international aspect of the gallery will also be tied into lessons for the classes such as imperialism in Africa Durell said. In May the gallery will focus on Asian art and artifacts in a similar setup Pace-Berkeley said. Eventually she said she would like to have a gallery open throughout the school year somewhere on the campus. “Right now the issue is we have to turn the SCA office into a gallery for two weeks and then we have to give it back” Pace-Berkeley said.
