In the 1980s — when the heart of downtown San Jose was torn apart for ambitious redevelopment projects — Eulipia was the hottest restaurant in town. City officials and business leaders mingled at its tables munching on prawns with apples and snow peas or chicken breasts apricots and grainy mustard. With its high ceiling and revolving art shows hanging on a long brick wall the gallery-style dining room was a hip urban setting for trendy dining in a city with precious little nightlife. The eclectic menu was filled with fresh ingredients and bright flavors. And reservations were a must. As the new downtown emerged however the center of dining shifted north a couple of blocks with a wave of upscale restaurants moving into new hotels and.
